Registration for fall Lumberjack Elite High School League
All South Meck boys who plan to play lacrosse are encouraged to register for the upcoming Lumberjack Elite High School League
this fall. This is a great chance to keep your skills sharp and develop better cohesion with your Sabre teammates as you prepare
for the 2009 season that begins in February. We would love to have enough players to field a South Meck-only team. The league
will include six regular-season games plus playoffs and be played on Saturdays in September and October, with most games at
Davie Park. On-line registration is now open at www.stickwithus.org, with Aug. 29 being the deadline to sign up. Signing up
for Lumberjack is the first step to making the 2009 Sabre lacrosse season a success.

Girls set record with 6-5 victory over Butler in season finale
The Lady Sabres capped Beth Williams' first season as coach with an exciting 6-5 win over Butler at Fred Boger Stadium Friday
on Senior Night. Kristen Reeder led South with two goals, while senior Casey Miller, Jackie Haenlein, Becca Robertson and
Brooke Bentley added one each to give the Sabres their third win of the season, the most ever in the short history of South's
girls lacrosse program. The Lady Sabres got out to a 5-1 lead, but had to hold Butler off late after the Lady Bulldogs tied
the game near the end. South sent seniors Miller and Bo Sadow, who were honored before the game, out as winners in their last
time wearing a Sabre uniform. South finished the season 3-14.

Sabres drop 8-4 decision at home to Marvin Ridge
Sophomore Jarrett Cook scored three goals and classmate Shea Fadel added another as South Meck dropped an exciting Queen City
Conference game to Marvin Ridge 8-4 at Fred Boger Stadium Tuesday night. The Mavericks led 5-1 at halftime, but South came
storming back in the third quarter with two goals by Cook and another from Fadel just before the end of the period to cut
the deficit to 5-4. The Sabres, who entered the game with just three healthy defensemen—Brian Meachum, Michael Swanson and
David Thornberry played the entire game—fought valiantly in the fourth but succumbed to fatigue as Marvin Ridge scored three
unanswered fourth-quarter goals. South gets its chance at revenge in a rematch next Tuesday at Marvin Ridge. Game time is
7 p.m.
